Bij een dopingtest buiten competitie op dinsdag 7 januari in Sheffield legde de Roeselaarse bokser Yves Ngabu een afwijkende test af. Dat meldt Mauricio Sulaiman, de voorzitter van boksbond WBC, via Twitter. “@Vada_Testing has notified the @WBCBoxing about an adverse finding from Cruiserweight contender Yves Ngabu from an out of competition sample collected in Sheffield UK on January 7 under the WBC Clean Boxing Program. The protocol has begun to attend this case.”

Eind oktober vorig jaar verdedigde Yves Ngabu in Londen voor de derde keer zijn Europese titel bij de cruisergewichten. De West-Vlaming verloor de titelkamp tegen de Brit Lawrence Okolie met een technische knock-out. Dat was zijn eerste nederlaag in 21 profkampen.
